Incredible Rosenthal

In the late nineteenth century, Philipp Rosenthal founded a company that, after fifty years, became one of the most successful porcelain manufacturers in the world. The company’s products can truly be called works of art. This is largely due to the fact that the company collaborated with many renowned artists and geniuses such as Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, and Walter Gropius.

But it’s not just the sketches of famous artists that are used to create porcelain masterpieces. Rosenthal also draws inspiration from leading designers of fashion houses such as Versace, Fornasetti, and Bulgari.

The factory itself is located on the border between two countries—Germany and the Czech Republic—in a small town called Selb. Porcelain has been manufactured here for several hundred years. This small town is the capital of Rosenthal. It is home not only to the company’s headquarters and main factory but also to the Rosenthal Castle.

The first item created by the company was an ashtray. But this is not just an ashtray; it is a true work of art. It even has a name—’Resting Place of the Burning Cigar.’ The name is presented in Gothic script on a white background, with the cigar depicted beside it. This masterpiece was created in the late nineteenth century. Due to its uniqueness and distinctiveness for that time, the ashtray gained immense popularity, as did the company. Success began to come to the brand.

The brand has utilized all existing styles in its products, which were popular at various times. Its products are classic designs, and its collections can be found in the most famous museums in the world. Rosenthal has contributed significantly to the development of design.

For example, the Studio Line in tableware has been incredibly successful. The uniqueness of this line lies in the fact that each element of the collection has its own unique and distinctive style and character.

The company’s motto has remained unchanged for over a hundred years: ‘Living with Art.’ One of the company’s principles is constant improvement.

The Rosenthal brand is a combination of elegance and modernity. Today, the company operates in the following areas: three lines of porcelain production—Studio Line, Classic, and Thomas—as well as joint porcelain production with Hutschenreuther.
